We reached out to Victor Daviet, 686 Team Rider and backcountry enthusiast to create a series of videos on how he safely prepares for his adventures outside the resort ropes. Victor has partnered with ANENA (National Association for the Study of Snow and Avalanches) to organize a series of backcountry awareness events called Safety Shred Days, so we knew he’d be the perfect candidate to help us spread awareness while keeping things fun along the way.
EPISODE 1: Backcountry Essentials
Victor touches on the essential gear required for a safe backcountry mission, no matter how close or far you are from a resort, along with some of his personal must-haves. Gear alone does not mean you are ready to get out there. You must also get educated, know the risks, and know your partner(s) are too.
